I can see in his face that this old soul has, through his intelligence, forged vast experience into wisdom. If he could view all 66,000 generations of human history from his time to ours, would he be impressed with what we've done with our gift of reason?
(*1.3 million years ago, a human ancestor dropped his jaw in a cave in what is now Spain, and scientists recently found it.)
