— Introduction —

I hope you find this compendium helpful. It is one of those projects I’ve been “meaning to do” for about the past five years. My goal was to get all of our 300+ designs into one straightforward publication, geared toward everyday use by those of you who order our tile. Although we no longer see all of them, Jackie and I very much appreciate each order you place for Fine Art Tile! Thank you!

For those of you who don’t know who “Steve and Jackie” are, we are an Oregon artist couple who started Fine Art Tile™ in 1995. Along with some great employees and family members, we produced all orders until 2000 when we decided we wanted to get back to being artists and let someone else do the business part. So we approached our then-biggest customer, based in Texas, and asked them if they would like to learn to make tile...they said yes...we licensed our designs to them to produce, and now we receive design royalties from every order you place for our tile. Again, thank you! We appreciate the increased artistic freedom—see what we’re doing with it at: www.studiotenxiii.com.

I’d be interested to hear your feedback on this compendium, suggestions for future Tip Sheets or tile designs, or any other general tile talk. E-mail me at info@studiotenxiii.com. But for anything to do with production, orders, ETA’s, pricing etc. contact your Fine Art Tile™ representative, or the production studio at:

Our credo for Fine Art Tile has always been: "ART FIRST." For all of you who share our love of tile as art, this compendium is dedicated to you.

—About Downloading—

In the unlikely event you don't already have it, you can download a free copy of Acrobat Reader at www.adobe.com to enable you to download and print out PDF files. It is extremely easy to use and works across all platforms. It will enable you to print out the above pages at high (300 dpi) resolution.

Those of you on dial-up, don't panic if it looks like your computer is "stuck" during downloading. Some pages may take several minutes for any image to appear on your monitor, and in the meantime it will look like nothing is happening. This is normal. To avoid having to wait again next time, I suggest you SAVE downloaded pages onto your hard drive so you can access it immediately next time you need it. (While the page is displayed on your monitor, go to File>Save. Alternatively, you can set your browser to "download to file" and it will automatically place downloaded pages onto your hard drive.)
